Powering 1700 watts of steam power, the Rowenta DW5080 has a powerful performance that’s sure to impress. It’s more suited for those who iron on a regular basis as opposed to occasional usage.

The Rowenta is one of the most affordable steam irons on our list, but don’t let its bargain price fool you. The company has built a reputation for high quality and performance in this device as well.

The same features found in DW5080 can be found cheaper elsewhere, however they lack when it comes to construction quality and narrow tip soleplate that makes up such an important part of what’s going to happen with your clothing..

Rowenta DW5080 1700-Watt Micro Steam Iron

Weight

As it is common with Rowenta steam irons, they are heavier in comparison to the many other brands. This model is around 3.4 pounds.

Besides, if you ask any professional or frequent ironer, heavier irons can give better results. Weight of iron can help to keep the fabric down.

Also, the ironing results for heavily wrinkled fabrics are much better.

Product dimensions

The Rowenta dw5080 is 11 x 5 x 6 inches in size. This size of this model is not compact but not too big either. Although, this iron can be hard to carry while traveling.

This iron size is easy to store if you are living in an apartment house.

Water tank capacity

This model has a little smaller water tank in comparison to the DW9280 model. The water tank capacity of Rowenta DW5080 is 10 oz. whereas DW9280 has a 10.4 oz water tank.

I prefer to have a larger water tank but ultimately this also affects the weight of iron while using it.

Power

The power in steam iron is an important factor to consider. The power of the ironing device for regular home use should not be too high as it will increase your electricity bills. With low power steam irons, performance will get affected.

Rowenta DW5080 has 1700 watts power. This along with the innovative technology of Rowenta gives an impressive steam output. Also, the heating time is much less than its competitors.

Steam Output

Steam output of most of the Rowenta irons is superior in comparison to their competitors. Rowenta DW5080 will not disappoint you either with its continuous steam output of 38 grams per minute.

For heavy fabrics of stubborn wrinkles, you can get a steam burst of 100 grams/ minute with push of a button on the handle.

Apart from the good steam output, steam distribution is also a very important factor to consider. This model has 400 steam holes on soleplate to distribute steam evenly. For ironing curtains or hanging clothes, you can also use this steam iron in a vertical position.

Warranty

Rowenta DW5080 has a limited warranty of one year from the date of purchase.

To know exactly what this manufacturer warranty covers, we recommend you to check their website.

Anti-scale system

Steam irons heat the water to create steam for easier ironing. With the heating of water, it is very normal to have mineral deposit especially if you are using regular tap water.

With time this limescale deposit can affect the performance of your ironing device. Therefore, it is now common in the industry to have the built-in anti-scale system in steam irons.

Rowenta DW5080 comes with the built-in anti-calc system which prevents the deposit of minerals from water. This system removes limescale deposits, maintain the performance, and increase the service life of the iron.

Automatic shutdown

As similar to the DW9280 model, this model also has a 3-way automatic shutoff feature. With this feature, your iron will automatically turn off after a certain time when there is no movement.

Rowenta DW5080 turns off after 30 seconds in a horizontal or in-side position and after 8 minutes in the vertical position.

Ergonomic

This model by Rowenta has an ergonomic and practical design. The handle is thick enough so you can hold it perfectly without tiring your hand. The position of buttons on the handle makes it easier for you to adjust the setting of the iron.

the design of soleplate is also impressive, which is common for Rowenta ironing devices. It has a narrow tip which makes it easier to iron hard-to-reach areas. The design is elegant but not as modern as some other models of Rowenta.

Price-performance ratio

Rowenta DW5080 is much better in performance in comparison to Rowenta DW9280.

It is not as cheap as some models with a price tag of 20-30 dollars. But if you consider performance, quality construction and ease of handling then this model is well worth its price.

Comfort

Comfort in using a steam iron is essential, especially if you iron frequently. With the Rowenta DW5080 model, you will not be disappointed. It has an ergonomic handle that doesn’t tire your hand.

Design and quality of soleplate with even distribution of steam holes make ironing convenient. The setting of thermostat knob for different temperatures depending on fabric is simple.

The steam burst button and vertical steam option make it easier to use in different conditions.

Quality / Durability

Rowenta is a leading brand in the market for its small household products for a long time. The quality of their product and innovative technology they use is one of the reasons for their success.

Rowenta DW5080 is a quality steam iron which makes boring chore like ironing much easier. This model is not only suitable for occasional ironers but also frequent ironing needs of the family.
