What distinguishes the Dyson V8 Absolute from the successor, the Dyson Cyclone V10 Absolute? In the Dyson V8 vs. V10 comparison below, we will compare both the models side by side.
Design, dimensions, and weight of the Dyson vacuum cleaner
The first difference that stands out between the Dyson Cyclone V10 Absolute and its predecessor is actually in the design. In the previous cordless vacuum cleaners from Dyson, there were hardly any differences between except for color details. But the look of the V10 differs significantly from that of the Dyson V8 Absolute.
This is mainly due to the new position of the dust container. The Dyson Cyclone V10 Absolute has a straightforward design whereas it was “downwards” on earlier models (V8). The motor, dust container and cyclone are arranged on a line.
This change allows the manufacturer to increase the size of the dust container.
Dust container of Dyson V10 has a capacity of 0.76 liters, which is significantly more than the 0.54 liters of Dyson V8 Absolute.
In contrast, the two vacuum cleaners hardly differ in weight. While the Dyson V8 Absolute is just under 5.8 lbs, the V10 is slightly more, namely just under 5.9 lbs.

Charging time and battery life
The Dyson Cyclone V10 Absolute is ahead in terms of charging time and battery life. For a full charge, the Dyson V10 vacuum cleaner only needs around 3.5 hours and then – in the best case – lasts up to 60 minutes.
But the predecessor V8 is not bad in terms of charging time and battery life. Although its maximum 40-minute battery life is significantly lower than that of the V10, this is still a decent time for a cordless vacuum cleaner.
However, the Dyson V8 Absolute needs around five hours for getting fully charged.

Dyson V8 vs. V10 | The Suction Power
Among other things, Dyson advertises that new Cyclone V10 Absolute is as strong as a conventional vacuum cleaner with cord.
There are 14 concentrically arranged cyclones in the interior of the device, which make it to a maximum of 150 Airwatt in Max mode.
This is also made possible by the new design of the V10, which enables optimized airflow. That’s a pretty impressive figure that the Dyson V8 Absolute can’t keep up with.
The suction power of the V8 is also convincing in comparison to many other vacuum cleaners in the market. With its 2 tier radial cyclones and a maximum of up to 115 Airwatt, it is no match to V10 cyclone absolute.

Which is louder?
For Dyson V8 vs. V10, in terms of volume, there are hardly any differences between the two Dyson vacuum cleaners.
Only at maximum suction power can it be determined that the Cyclone V10 Absolute is a little louder than the V8.
The maximum noise level for V10 is 87 dB and for V8 Absolute is 82 dB.
In regular use, the Dyson Cyclone V10 Absolute is a bit quieter than its predecessor. The manufacturer also expressly praises the improved acoustics of its new wireless vacuum cleaner and refers to an optimized vibration absorption, which should reduce the noise level.
In practice, however, this is only noticeable to very pointy users in a direct comparison.
One of the most important differences between the Dyson V8 Absolute and its successor, the V10, is the price.
If you don’t necessarily have to have the complete package with all floor nozzles and brushes, you can also get the Dyson Cyclone V10 cheaper. The versions V10 Animal and V10 Motorhead do not differ technically from the V10 Absolute but are only delivered with fewer accessories.
